Hebbo! I’m Michelle Osorio and you may know me as the co-founder of Kill9 (though you probably don’t) and the filmmaker behind Boomer’s Day Off, a 4-part web series parodying the zombies from the smash hit video game, Left 4 Dead. Episode 1 has surpassed a million views! My personal YouTube portfolio also features a concert series by master musician, Jake Shimabukuro. My video highlight of his While My Guitar Gently Weeps ukulele cover is also a 1,000,000+ views viral video. Kill9 has two new productions in the works: a small video blog called Gamer Grandma, and a 10-part web show about a lovable Dalek (alien killing machine) named Gary. Follow him now on Twitter!
More history: I was born in San Diego, California and share a birthday with Hulk Hogan (not the same year though). My education includes the Huntington Beach Academy for the Performing Arts, where I specialized in Musical Theater. I studied Telemedia at Southwestern College and am currently attending Penn State online program. My film, Safety with Scissors (2002) made its U.S. premiere at Tromadance Film Festival. The short went on to win 1st Place in Comedy at both Best Fest and the Imperial Beach International Film Festival. After that, I worked in education, serving as an Instructor for the San Diego Women Film Foundation’s Divas Direct program and previously with the Teen Producers Project, through Media Arts Center San Diego.
Casting and Production Assistant credits include Creepshow 3, Day of the Dead 2, Deal or No Deal and NBC’s The Biggest Loser. I was also briefly a casting recruiter for Singing Bee on CMT Network. For 2 years, I served as Creative Producer at DivX where I’ve had the pleasure of shooting the likes of MST3K’s Mike Nelson, Rosario Dawson, BT, Jake Shimabukuro, Tiki Bar TV, Pure Pwnage and JETSET Show (now Epic Fu). I am co-creator of the web series, ./shutdown which I wrote and directed with the brilliant David Gonzalez. Together, we founded Kill9, producing several web series, starting with ./shutdown. Following the success of Boomer’s Day Off (co-written with Jump-Leads Creator Ben Paddon), I paired up with Ben again for a popular interview series avec Earl Alexander, the voice of Louis in Left 4 Dead. Subscribe to the Kill9 YouTube channel for updates on future projects.
Occasionally, when I feel like a huge dork, I will record personal video blogs on my Personal YouTube channel. If you’re ever looking for me online (MySpace, Steam, XBOX) I usually go by the name “MichelleKenobi.” I was in Living Forgotten Realms group for Dungeons & Dragons, but our Dungeon Master moved away…
I also played World of Warcraft relgiously, but have been sober 2 years now. Nonetheless, I consider myself a geek who enjoys playing video games, karaoke, and long walks on the deserts of Tattooine. Oh, I am also a Twitter fanatic.
